What is the Creative Team?
My choice to make Applied Linear Algebra Fundamentals textbook materials available to the world with no required paywall implies a limited production budget. Compared to large, multi-national publishing corporations, I operate this project on a shoe-string budget.
The good news is that, because my expenses are low, I don’t have large overhead costs that force me to put a paywall on this creative work or incentive me to charge students, teachers, or institutions to access these resources. The bad news is that I have a limited budget to pay for the types of team members available at a for-profit publishing company (copy editors, typesetters, marketing and sales associates, business administrators, etc).
The major goal of this book is to provide excellent, open-access learning materials for an introduction to applied linear algebra with a focus on mathematical modeling. As I build this material, I plan to find ways to help other instructors adopt this work inside their classes.
As my work goes out in the world, I like to think about two different types of users:
System navigation readers
this type of learner is someone who reads my materials, might catch some errors, and uses my work to advance their own education without strong feelings of joining the larger creative community.System transformation co-conspirators
For the dedicated participant who puts hundreds or thousands of hours into reading these materials thoroughly
