Math 1C, Multivariable Differentiation (MD): Lesson Resources

Multivariable Differential Calculus

In this part of Math 1C, we develop the theory of partial derivatives of multivariable functions. In doing so, we explore the formal mathematical definition of partial derivatives, we learn the techniques of partial differentiation and we study the gradient operator. We also apply the theory of partial derivatives to solve famous mathematical problems including multivariable optimization, least-squares problems and constrained optimization problems.

Math 1C, Introduction to Numerical Analysis (INA): Lesson Resources

Introduction to Numerical Analysis: Sequences and Series

In this part of Math 1C, we return to our study of single-variable functions and develop series representations of continuous functions. We investigate the theory of sequences and series, we study a myriad of tests for convergence of infinite series and we explore the convergence properties of Power Series and Taylor Series Polynomials. Finally, we apply series to solve simple ODEs and sequences of partial sums to evaluate functions numerically.
